So, what's the dealwith that crazy name?

Egg on Your Face - [eg awn yohr feys]

1 – adjective. to look foolish or be embarrassed, a blunder

2 – noun. the eggciting place to go for an eggstraordinary dining eggsperience.

The idiom’s common origin dates back to the unruly practice of pelting eggs at an incompetent actor and forcing him off stage.  Others point to the social gaff of a nobleman left with egg yolk on his mustache after eating a meal a peasant could only dream about.

Far from being mean spirited, our intent in naming Egg on Your Face was to offer you a chance to embrace and celebrate life’s blunders.  Who among us hasn’t realized that you learn more from your mistakes and failures than successes?

When you come into Egg on Your Face, you can enjoy one of our signature dishes named after famous blunders, such as the Titanic Breakfast, Eggs Benedict Arnold, or Mrs. O’Leary’s Biscuits & Gravy.  Feel free to pass the time until your meal arrives by admiring our banners—one side shows a picture of a famous blunder or blunderer (for instance, the Edsel) and the other side is filled with famous quotes that will make your sides split with laughter. Check out some of our quotes here.

But for now, sit back and relax while you ponder these thoughts on mistakes as you share your previous ones and imagine your next.

“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a

life spent in doing nothing.”  - George Bernard Shaw

“I prefer you to make mistakes in kindness than work miracles in unkindness.” – Mother Teresa

“Nobody made a greater mistake than the person who did nothing because they could do only a little” – Edmund Burke
